The Collection: Call it a Day

Sometimes i rhyme when i write.....

When I put in far more than I get out
And conversations are fever pitch shouts
When being around me makes you ill
Yet you hang around at your own free will
When you lead me to the deep end of the emotional pool
Then leave me stranded,I'm such a fool
When you use against me my perennial weakness
And tick me off with your artificial sweetness
Let's call it a day babe.call it a day
When you push me and I push back
Radio silence for days after the fact
And when you finally do speak to me
I end up apologizing, almost on bent knees
When every moment with you is some kind of test
Constant pressure to please,to impress
When I'm finish writing,gonna do what's due
Let's call it a day babe.call it a day

Men’s Olympic 100M final

The upcoming men’s 100M final at the Olympics is going to be one of the most keenly contested races ever. In the starting line, there will be current record holder Usain Bolt of Jamaica (9.72), former record holder Asafa Powell also of Jamaica (9.74) and American Tyson Gay who recently ran a wind aided 9.68 (tornado assisted or not, that’s a fabulous time!) as well as other guys to make up the numbers. Who will be champion?! Anyone one of the three at this point; it’s just a matter of who’s better on the day and/or who can hold their nerve.

Will Asafa finally grow a vertebrae and not be psyched before the race even begins?! Will he fulfill his dream of winning a major title?! Or will Michael Johnson’s prophecy come through?!

Will Usain exact revenge on Tyson for beating him at last year’s world championships and for biting his ear off?! Can Usain lower the world record even further?

Can Tyson not get caught using the currently unknown relative of GHB? Will he win the final and then vanish for a few weeks as he did after the world championships?! Guess he needed to detoxify or something?

Will Justin Gatlin get a chance to defend his ill gotten Olympic title?

Will anyone ever break Florence Joiner’s woMEN’s 100M record (10.49)?! I doubt it!

We’ll all find the answers to these pressing questions in the coming months!!!!

Pay Per Post!!

Over the years blogging has grown from just a hobby that few enjoy to a lucrative income generating opportunity for anyone willing to spare the time and effort. During this period, many companies have facilitated the bringing together of bloggers and advertisers for mutual benefit. These companies fall into one of three categories accord to their level of service offered to bloggers; average, better than average and then there is Payperpost.

Payperpost is undoubtedly the first place that a blogger ought to visit if he/she wants to write sponsored post. Why? Because they simply have the largest number of paying opportunities available. They even give advertisers the option of directly picking you to write a post for them, sweet! Did you ever find yourself registering with a ton of blog networks and get very few assignment from them? I certainly have! I’ve been in the assignment queue of one particular service for a month and still no work (sigh). Payperpost, problem solved.

Trust me, give them a try. Your blog has to be more than thirty days old and have at least ten post but it will be worth the wait (if you have to). It feels like home, you’ll never want to leave once you get in. Luckily for me Dosh Dosh pointed me in the right direction. Visit Payperpost at:

Africa

The cradle of life, home of the great pyramids, the host of the FIFA 2010 world cup of soccer, the most mineral rich continent, diverse and unique.

Africa, the only continent which has gotten poorer over the past three decades, the place where civil war and dictatorships are a dime a dozen, the place where famine and its related diseases are a harsh reality, a place where HIV is destroying huge chunks of the economically productive population. The ills of the continent are well documented and hypotheses of its causes and solutions are published every six months.

Here is the simple truth, Africa is the way it is because if has been robbed of its population through slavery, drained of its mineral resources and left for dead by Imperial Powers. Everyone who was anyone; the English, Spanish, French, Dutch and others, had their way with those ‘soulless savages’. They placed the entire continent at a disadvantage that is more evident now than ever. It is more embarrassing now than ever.

What’s done is done. We only need to be willing to admit and accept the truth.

Africa is a very big place, some countries are better off than others but on a whole they are not where they ought to be developmentally. Take Rhodesia for example, I mean Zimbabwe; the country is currently in political, economic and social turmoil. (I kinda sounded like Leo in Blood Diamond there didn’t I! Let me not even talk about those overpriced pieces of Carbon). Zimbabwe was once the poster child of Africa, now only a shadow of itself.

There are those who say that civil unrest is a natural feature of societal development and that things will eventually calm down and peace and obedience shall be the order of the day. They often site the fact that many nations which are now developed went through periods of intense, violent civil wars…… Be that as it may, Africa has still been short changed.

In conclusion, those who benefited most from Africa should take a leading role in the solving of its problems. Let your conscience be your guide.

> Human

It’s the ultimate irony of human existence, some have a great deal while others have very little. The unequal distribution of wealth and opportunity can be so stark, so dramatic. It tends to be more noticeable in the developing world, in places like Brazil and India where there really isn’t a sizeable middle class. Just really rich people and really poor people.

In 2007 the world commemorated the 200th anniversary of the abolition of the Trans Atlantic slave trade in British colonies (although slavery didn’t end for another thirty years and even later in America). If one were to ask the average Joe if slavery still exists today, he would firstly laugh and/or scoff and then vehemently say NO. But someone ought to tell Joe that slavery is alive and well.

You can see it in Darfur where slaves are transported just like they were in the old days, in chains. You can see it in Europe where poor young women are lured from the East with the promise of high wages in Western Europe, only to find themselves forced into prostitution by well connected and extremely dangerous criminal gangs. You see it when companies or business owners pay their employees a starvation wage; just enough to keep them alive. You see it with illegal Mexicans in California, Arizona, Texas and Utah. You see it with the abuse that domestic helpers around the world. You see it somewhere close to you. I see it through my window right now.

Some people just want to survive while others want to thrive. What category do you fall into? What category do you want to be in?

It has always pained my heart to see how much food we waste when there are soooo many people around the world who would kill for what you just threw away. What makes the west so much more fortunate than the least? It’s not something that we will readily admit.

Maybe those scientist guys are right and the world is overpopulated. They estimated that the most ideal global population should be about four billion. This makes the planet overpopulated by over fifty percent! Maybe the clergyman Thomas Malthus is right as well. His dooms day thesis states that population increases exponentially (2, 4, 8, 16, 32) while food production/productivity increase arithmetically (1, 2, 3, 4, 5). Do the math, the population will outgrow its food source and famine will result.

We only need to turn on the TV to see famine being beamed into our living rooms in Hi Def. But there is enough food to feed us all. We only need the will to share it, to send it where it’s needed most in a timely manner. But is food aid the long term solution? Definitely not, but that’s the best that can be done right now (sigh). The world is not level; it’s not level at all.

I know that this post is not very coherent and may not make sense to a lot of folks ….Let’s make the world a better place.

Click! Click!

As you can see, Google’s Adsense is in use on this blog. It’s a cool way to make a few extra bucks. Due to the pay per click nature of the program Google keeps an eye out for click fraud; that is the use of illicit methods to increase clicks and hence revenue. If a publisher is deemed to be involved in click fraud, he or she can loose their Adsense account. This is quite understandable; Google has a right to defend the integrity of their cash cow.

That being said, suppose a competitor or someone who doesn’t like me decide to click on my ads, continuously. To the point where my CTR (Click Through Rate) goes Through the roof. To the point where Google flags my account and eventually bans me from their network, permanently. How do defend myself? Do I get the benefit of the doubt? Is there any doubt?

There is a great deal of software out there which can click on ads as many times as the host server can handle. Some even use real IP addresses! And when advertisers do an analysis and see that these clicks aren’t being reflected in sales then….. How would I be able to defend myself? After all, who benefits most from more clicks on my ads? Google benefits most to be honest, but they will see me as the primary beneficiary. Could Google give me reasonable answers to these reasonable questions?

Snapbomb!

Let’s be honest, most people who blog do so with the intention of making money from their efforts. There are many websites which link advertisers and bloggers with the intention of accruing benefits to both; welcomed exposure for advertisers and cash for publishers. Many measure the value of a blog by its page rank and link profile.

Then there is Snapbomb, they not only values a blog based on its level traffic but they constantly monitor and re-value your blog. So if your viewer-ship increases, so does your blog’s value and vice versa; fair enough. This is by far the most efficient way of determining the true worth of a web log.

I mean, how often does Google update your page rank? Not often enough. Is your blog even ranked? Maybe not. No wonder there’s a buzz about Snapbomb. They bring a fresh and unique approach to the world of blog advertising. In the world of blog advertising, Snapbomb is king!
